Hailing from East orange, New Jersey, Antonique Charmaine Smith is a critically acclaimed broadway, film and television actor, a grammy nominated artist and writer and a passionate social, climate and Environmental justice activist.
Antonique first garnered attention in her buzzworthy leading role in "RENT" on Broadway as Mimi Marquez. She became and remains the international poster girl for the show.
Antonique Smith then became famous for her starring role of Faith Evans in the movie "Notorious" where she received rave reviews. The LA Times called her "delicious in the role" and Rolling Stone magazine said she was "terrific". She was also praised by critics, including Jeffery Lyons who called her "one to watch". antonique then went on to star in “Abduction”, in “Yelling To The Sky", and in "Deuces". She has also guest starred and recurred on numerous hit TV shows including “Law & Order”, HBO's “Bored To Death”, A&E's "100 Centre Street", FOX's limited series "Shots Fired", NBC's "Chicago PD", in season 2 of the hit NETFLIX series “Marvel’s Luke Cage”, and in season 2 of the Blumhouse TV anthology series "Sacred Lies".
She will star in the 3rd season of the highly anticipated, EMmy nominated anthology series "Genius", tiled "genius: Aretha" as Aretha Franklin's mother Barbara Franklin. the show will airs on National Geographic on march 21st 20201. the 8 episodes will air over 4 nights and go to Hulu the next day.

Antonique shocked the world in 2015 with the release of her first body of work, her EP "Love Is Everything", stemming from her successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012 where Smith raised over $50,000 in 30 days from her fans. ‘Hold Up Wait A Minute (Woo Woo)’ is the edgy, uptempo, future meets retro, soul pleaser that reached top 20 at radio and earned Antonique a 57th GRAMMY Nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance.
Antonique is also an accomplished songwriter. Having co-written her Grammy nominated single, she has also written songs for several television shows including Shots Fired, where she co-wrote the show's theme song along with several other original songs featured in the show and composed a piece of the score with great Terrance Blanchard.
Heralded as "an amazing actress with a great career ahead of her" by the legendary director Sidney Lumet, Antonique is following the career path of Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston; pursuing a career in film while also continuing to make her dream of a Grammy winning recording career into the most amazing of realities.
